General informations

The Institute of Research in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (UMR CNRS 6183) is pleased to announce the 7th edition of the Young Researchers Days on Eco-Composites and Bio-Based Composites, which will take place on October 9–10, 2025, in Saint-Nazaire. This event is organized under the auspices of the Association for Composite Materials (AMAC) and the MECAMAT association.

Topics

  • Fiber plants: mechanics, biomechanics, varietal selection, and cultivation.

  • Fibers and plant walls: extraction, synthesis, characterizations including biochemistry, physicochemical properties, as well as mechanical, structural, acoustic, and hygrothermal properties.

  • Implementation processes of biocomposites and bio-based materials.

  • Multi-scale and multi-physical characterization of biocomposites.

  • Durability and aging of reinforcements and biocomposite structures.

  • Modeling of phenomena and properties of composites.

  • End-of-life management of composites.

Objectives

  • Promote and monitor the work of laboratories, with a focus on young researchers.
  • Encourage regular exchanges among participants to enrich knowledge and foster collaborations.
  • Stimulate interdisciplinarity and the transfer of expertise across different research fields.
  • Identify prospects to promote the industrialization of bio-based materials.

Who is concerned?

These days are specifically designed for young researchers, particularly PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career lecturers and assistant professors, whose research focuses on bio-based materials and eco-composites.
